Insect forum, rabies clinic & game dinner: Six things to know in Glocester this week

Invasive insect forum

The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management will hold an open forum and information session this week on two invasive insects that have been observed in Glocester: the spotted lanternfly and the winter moth. The forum will be held at Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike on Wednesday, April 10 from 10 a.m. and noon.

 The program is free, but registration is required here, and space is limited.

Rabies clinic

The town of Glocester will hold a rabies clinic on Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Chepachet Fire Station at 1170 Putnam Pike. Shots cost $20 and must be paid in cash. Proof of current rabies vaccination is necessary to receive a three year shot. All dogs must be leashed and cats must be in a carrier.

You do not need to be a resident to obtain a rabies vaccination.

Wine dinner fundraiser

Glocester Little League will host a wine dinner fundraiser at Assados Kitchen & Bar at 102 Putnam Pike on Sunday, April 14 from 4-7 p.m. Tickets cost $60 with all sales to help support the program. Reservations can be made here or by contacting Anastasia Wachter at hacteha1984@gmail.com.

Music at the Meeting House

Chepachet Baptist Church at 1213 Putnam Pike will present a Music at the Meeting House concert on Sunday, April 14 starting at 2:30 p.m. The show will be dedicated to the song “Amazing Grace,” and how the hymn was written. The song will be sung by the Greenville Baptist Church Choir, and played variously with bagpipe, trumpet, handbells, English Horn, violin and viola, guitar, and pipe organ. Refreshments will follow.

Game dinner

The Glocester Lions Club will hold a game dinner on Sunday, April 14 starting at noon at the Smithfield Elks Lodge at 326 Farnum Pike.
