Northern, RI – Welcome to The Weekend northern Rhode Island, our weekly guide to all that’s happening over the next few days here in our corner of the state.

With the last of the cold weather still hanging on this weekend and rain expected on Saturday, a few events have been postponed until Sunday – and you may want to double-check with organizers for cancellations yet to be announced.

However you spend your free time, as always, we hope you enjoy it, and consider checking out these great local organizations and venues.

Friday, March 22

Levy PTA fundraiser, The Taco Shop, 459 Chapel St., 3-8 p.m. 10 percent of all sales will benefit the Austin T. Levy PTA

Fish Fry, Shrine of the Little Flower/St. Therese’s, 35 Dion Drive, Harrisville, 4-7 p.m. Dine in or take out every Friday during lent.

Saturday, March 23

Free yoga class, Good Working, 585 Smithfield Road, North Smithfield, 9-10 a.m.  Join Ashley Sarji for an all levels class. Learn more and register here.

Easter bunny pictures, Crystal Lake, 100 Broncos Highway, Mapleville, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Take your picture with the Easter Bunny in the Waterfront Ballroom. There will be a kids craft table & each child will get an Easter surprise. Child and adult beverages will be available for purchase.

Knitting Circle, The Hen House, 1189 Putnam Pike, Chepachet, 10 a.m.-noon Every Saturday. Bring in any project – knit, crochet, or other needlework – you are working on. The group also enjoys doing yarn swaps, needle/hook swaps and book/pattern swaps.

Master Gardener’s session, North Smithfield Public Library, 20 Main St., Slatersville, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. University of RI Master Gardeners will answer questions and offer free soil testing. Visitors are asked to bring their own soil samples.

All About Seeds, Glocester Manton Library, 1137 Putnam Pike, Glocester, 10:30 a.m. to noon. URI Master Gardener Sue Scotti will share all you need to know about seeds and answer questions about seed propagation. Free planting calendars and seeds will be available, along with coffee and snacks. 

Weekly authors’ visit, Job Armstrong Store, 1181 Putnam Pike, Glocester, noon- 4 p.m. Book fair along with authors expected in attendance.

Pop-up Market, Bravo Brewing Company, 77 Pascoag Main St., Pascoag, 1 to 4 p.m. The Burrillville Farmer’s Market will feature baked goods, local meats and artisanal goods, as well as the business’s handcrafted brews. 

Left Right Center game play, Dev’s Tavern, 341 Chapel St., Harrisville, 1 p.m. 3 Can Jam, 8-11 p.m.

Easter Egg Hunt, Laurel Grange, 351 Snake Hill Road North Scituate, 1:30 p.m. The Glocester Republican Town Committee will host, with children under 5 starting at 1:30 p.m. Children ages 5-10 will have the chance to hunt for eggs starting at 2 p.m. and those age 11 plus will start at 2:30 p.m. The event will include a chance for photos with the Easter bunny and participants should bring their own baskets. Rain date Sunday.

Open Skate, Levy Rink, 425 East Ave., Harrisville, 2 to 3:30 p.m. The Burrillville Junior Hockey League will hold its last open skate of the season. The cost is $7 per skater with free rentals available on a first come, first serve basis

Easter food drive, Dino’s Park & Shop, 1020 Putnam Pike, Glocester, 10 a.m. to noon. The Glocester Republican Town Committee will collect needed items including cakes, pies, hams, canned vegetables, potatoes and biscuits. .

Lucky Green Target Shoot – Skeet & Trap, Wallum Lake Rod & Gun Club, 200 Brook Road, Harrisville, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Members, non-members, beginners or expert shooters are welcome, no reservations required, $8 per round.

Easter Egg Hunt, Pacheco Park, 11 Main St., North Smithfield, noon – 2 p.m. North Smithfield Parks & Recreation Department’s annual event is open to North Smithfield children ages 2-8 and their families, and will include a visit from the Easter bunny.

Meat raffle, Pinewood Pizza & Pub, 16 Terry Lane, Chepachet, Doors at noon with raffles at 1 p.m. Free buffet with ticket purchase.

Roadhouse Blues, Cady’s Tavern, 2168 Putnam Pike, Chepachet, 3 p.m.

Who Shot JR, Hill’s Tavern, 417 Putnam Pike, Chepachet. 2-6 p.m. followed by meat raffle

Family Skate, Levy Rink, 425 East Ave., Harrisville, 4 to 6 p.m. The three Burrillville elementary schools’ PTAs asks families to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the Burrillville Weekend Backpack Program.

Full Moon Hike, Burrillville Middle School, 2220 Broncos Highway, 6-8 p.m. With the Burrillville Conservation Commission led by Naturalist Martha Thoman. Participants should dress for the weather and bring a hand held flashlight or headlamp. The weather backup date for the event is Monday, March 25.
