Financial Town Meeting, All About Seeds & Eggs at the Grange: Six things to know in Glocester this week

Financial Town Meeting

The Foster-Glocester Regional School District’s annual Financial Town Meeting will take place on Tuesday, March 19. The district is proposing a budget for the 2024/2025 school year with a 2.76 percent increase or $477,532 in the local appropriation. Residents can vote on the proposal in the auditorium of Ponaganset High School at 137 Anan Wade Road starting at 7 p.m.

Effects of Screen Time

The Foster-Glocester Regional School District is inviting parents to a Zoom session on the Effects of Screen Time and Children’s Mental Health. The session will include ways to protect a child’s mental health and will take place on Tuesday, March 19 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Register to attend here.

All About Seeds

Glocester Heritage Gardens will present All About Seeds at Glocester Manton Library at 1137 Putnam Pike on Saturday, March 23 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. URI Master Gardener Sue Scotti will share all you need to know about seeds and answer questions about seed propagation. Free planting calendars and seeds will be available, along with coffee and snacks.

Food drive

The Glocester Republican Town Committee will hold an Easter food drive at Dino’s Park & Shop at 1020 Putnam Pike on Saturday, March 23 from 10 a.m. to noon. Items needed include cakes, pies, hams, canned vegetables, potatoes and biscuits. The rain date for the collection is Sunday, March 24.

Easter eggs at the Grange

The Glocester Republican Town Committee will host an Easter Egg Hunt at Laurel Grange at 351 Snake Hill Road North Scituate on Saturday, March 23, with children under 5 starting at 1:30 p.m. Children ages 5-10 will have the chance to hunt for eggs starting at 2 p.m. and those age 11 plus will start at 2:30 p.m. The event will include a chance for photos with the Easter bunny and participants should bring their own baskets.

Town meetings

The Glocester Planning Board workshop originally scheduled for Tuesday, March 19 has been cancelled.

The Glocester Budget Board will hold a meeting on Wednesday, March 20 starting at 7 p.m. at Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike. The agenda is here.

The Glocester Town Council is scheduled to hold a meeting on Thursday, March 21 starting at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike. The agenda will be posted on the Secretary of State website here.
