Kindergarten support session

North Smithfield Public Schools have opened registration for kindergarten, open to all children living in North Smithfield who will turn age 5 by September 1. Parents can register here. For those who need help registering or submitting the required documents, support sessions will be held on Wednesday, March 20 from 5 to 7 p.m. or Saturday, April 27 from 9 to 11 a.m. at North Smithfield Elementary School. Questions can be directed to (401) 765-2260.

Pickleball

The North Smithfield Parks & Recreation Department has announced that a six week pickleball session will be held on Sundays from April 7 through May 19 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. All skill levels are welcome to the session, hosted by PPR Pro Marissa Pitrone. The cost is $130 per person with registration found here.

Easter Egg hunt

Editor’s note: The below event has been postponed to the rain date of Sunday, March 24.

The North Smithfield Parks & Recreation Department’s annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, March 23 from noon to 2 p.m. at the fields at Pacheco Park. The event is open to North Smithfield children ages 2-8 and their families, and will include a visit from the Easter bunny. The rain date for the event is Sunday, March 24.

 Library offers soil testing

Ask the Master Gardeners your gardening questions and have your soil samples tested on Saturday, March 23 at the North Smithfield Public Library  between 11:30 am and 12:30 pm presented by University of RI Master Gardeners. Visitors are asked to bring their own soil samples and drop in between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. or register by visiting https://nspl.evanced.info/signup or calling (401) 767-2780.

Town meetings

The North Smithfield Town Council will hold a meeting on Monday, March 18 starting at 6:45 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Green St. The agenda is here.

The North Smithfield School Committee will hold a meeting on Tuesday, March 19 starting at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria of North Smithfield Middle School at 1850 Providence Pike. The agenda is here.

The North Smithfield Sewer Commission will hold a meeting on Wednesday, March 20 starting at 7 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Green St. The agenda is here.

The North Smithfield School Committee will hold a joint meeting with the Budget Committee on Thursday, March 21 starting at 5:45 p.m. in the cafeteria of North Smithfield Middle School at 1850 Providence Pike. The agenda is here.

The Municipal Buildings Review Task Force will hold a meeting on Thursday, March 21 starting at 7 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Green St. The agenda is here.
