Egg Hunt, Senior Concert & Family Dinner: Six things to know in Burrillville this week

State Championship

Congratulations to the Burrillville High School hockey team, headed to the Division 1 State Championship for the first time since 1976. The Broncos team took down #1 seeded Prout in the Frozen Four semi-finals 4-3 in double OT over the weekend. The high school noted that goals were scored by Steve Rodrigues, Patrick Murphy, Ryan Frenette and Cam Force, with the game winner.

The championship game will take place on Sunday, March 17 starting at 7 p.m. at Providence College.

Senior Concert

The Burrillville High School Music Department will present the annual Senior Concert on Tuesday, March 12 starting at 7 p.m., featuring the Burrillville High School Band with guest performers The American Band. The concert will take place in the auditorium of BHS at 425 East Ave. and admission is free.

Grad requirements meeting

Current and incoming Burrillville Middle School families are invited to an informational meeting on the new high school graduation requirements on Thursday, March 14 starting at 6 p.m. in the auditorium of the school at 2220 Broncos Highway. Attendees will gain insight on course choices and electives, and have a chance to ask questions. The session will take place on the same night as the school’s parent-teacher conferences.

The Assembly Theatre hosted Entertainment For All over the weekend, a fundraiser for Burrillville-based nonprofit R.A.M.P.

Egg Hunt

The Burrillville Parks & Recreation Department will host the town’s annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 16 at Branch River Park by Burrillville Middle School at 2220 Broncos Highway starting at 11 a.m. Kid’s 8 & under are welcome to bring a bag or basket to collect eggs, see the Buckleupallofus the giant blow up Dinosaur balloon and take pictures with the Easter Bunny. The event will also feature an Easter basket raffle and Dinolicious food truck will be on site from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The rain date for the event is March 23.

St. Patrick’s Day

Sunday, March 17 is St. Patrick’s Day and many in-town venues will feature celebrations with music, specials and more. Among them is Mapleville Farm at 544 Victory Highway, hosting a St. Patrick’s Day family dinner starting at 3 p.m. The non-alcoholic dinner will feature live music and entertainment, and a meal. Tickets cost $35 plus tax for adults; $15 for kids ages 4-10 and is free for kids ages 3 and under, and can be purchased at the farm or online here.

The Burrillville Recreation Commission will hold a meeting on Monday, March 11 starting at 6:30 p.m. at Jesse Smith Memorial Library at 100 Tinkham Lane. The agenda is here.
