Joy with Jasmine

North Smithfield Public Library will hold Joy with Jasmine at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb 27, an opportunity to read with a therapy dog open to children ages 7-11. Participants will have 10 minute reading sessions with Jasmine, a three-year-old American Eskimo/Goldendoodle, and her handler Janice.

Jasmine and Janice have completed their credentialing to become a Windwalker Pet Assisted Therapy Team and have completed two internships at Robert Bailey Elementary and Ponaganset Middle School. They worked with students both individually and in small groups and also participated with the summer program at the Northwest Special Education Department. Jasmine will be available to provide non judgmental support to children as they read to her.

Little league

North Smithfield Little League has announced that registration is now open for the upcoming 2024 baseball season. Parents and guardians are encouraged to visit www.northsmithfieldll.com to sign up their children for a fun and rewarding baseball experience.

The North Smithfield Little League offers various baseball divisions suitable for players of all skill levels, including T-Ball, Minors, AAA, Majors, Juniors, and Seniors. Early registration is highly recommended, as the registration fee varies from $85 to $125 depending on the chosen division. Fees will increase after March 5, so parents are encouraged to take advantage of the discounted rate and register now to secure their child’s spot on the team.

Player evaluations are scheduled to take place on Tuesday, March 5 at the Wellness Center at Cumberland High School. This is an essential step in ensuring that players are placed in the appropriate division for their skill level and age group.
