MLK Day

Trash and recycling pickup is delayed on Monday, Jan. 15, and town and school offices are closed in celebration of Martin Luther King Day. Pickup will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. The Department of Public Works reminds residents that information on changes and delays due to weather and holidays is available at (401) 568-4440 ext. 12 or by visiting burrillville.org/refuse. View a list of other winter trash and recycling reminders below.

A side note: Monday is “Meatball Madness” day for the Dinolicious food truck. Stop by Pascoag Main Street all day for subs, pasta or just the meatballs made from scratch.

Friendly calls

Speaking of MLK Day, the holiday is traditionally celebrated as a day of service, and there are great opportunities in town to volunteer all year round. One such opportunity is the Burrillville Village, which aims to improve quality of life for the town’s older residents. The group is currently working to launch “Friendly Calls & Visits,” where volunteers connect with members to provide socialization through the winter months. To learn more about the program or volunteer to help out, call (401) 228-8683 or email burrillville@villagecommonri.org

Spoofing

The Pascoag Utility District is warning customers of reports of spoofing phone calls stating a past due needs to be paid to avoid disconnection. Customers are advised to check their account with any questions, and only use Pascoag’s website and automated phone portal for payments. Questions can be directed to PUD’s office at (401) 568-6222.
