Cookie bakers wanted

North Smithfield Public Library is seeking volunteer bakers to contribute to their annual Valentine Cookie Walk fundraiser. All cookies are needed by Friday, Feb. 9. To sign up to bake, call the library at (401) 767-2780.

Flood damage

North Smithfield residents whose homes have been damaged due to flooding from recent storms are asked to contact the North Smithfiled Emergency Management Agency. To report damages, call the EMA office at (401) 767-2200 and leave a detailed message to receive a timely return call.

Heritage Walk

The North Smithfield Heritage Association will hold a Heritage Walk on Saturday, Jan. 20 covering Woonsocket Reservoir #3 including NS38 Oliver Smith Lot, Amasa Sweet Quarry, Great Wall, William Mowry Homestead and the Obed Paine Homestead. Participants will meet at the North Smithfield High School tennis courts on Grange Road at 9:30 a.m.

Village Shaker

The Museum of Work & Culture at 42 South Main St. in Woonsocket will host, “Village Shaker, Puzzle Maker,” on Sunday, January 21 as the latest installment in the Valley Talks series. North Smithfield-based director Christian de Rezendes will discuss the making of the historical documentary series Slatersville, America’s First Mill Village. The event is free, but seating will be limited and guests are advised to register here.

Town meetings

The North Smithfield School Committee will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 16 starting at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria of North Smithfield Middle School at 1850 Providence Pike. The agenda is here.
