Adult Tai Chi

The Burrillville Parks & Recreation Department has announced that free Tai Chi classes for seniors will be held each Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Beckwith-Bruckshaw Lodge at 59 Lodge Road beginning January 11. All levels of ability are welcome. For registration information contact instructor Paul McCarthy at pmccarthy@smithfieldfire.com.

Holiday trash

Monday, Jan. 1 was a trash holiday in Burrillville, and trash and recycling pickup in town will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week. The Whipple Avenue recycling and compost facility remains open on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Coat drive

The Burrillville School District’s CTE Education Program is holding a coat drive this month, collecting new and used coats through Wednesday, Jan. 31. Coats can be dropped off at A.T. Levy School at 135 Harrisville Main St. or Burrillville High School at 425 East Ave.

Financial Aide

The town of Burrillville is seeking applicants to establish an eligibility list for the position of financial aide. A written examination to qualify for the position will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. in the municipal court room at 1477 Victory Highway. A $10 non-refundable fee will be charged for testing materials. Complete applications along with the fee should be returned to Town Hall by Wednesday, Jan. 24 at noon.

Tacos for Steere Farm

The Taco Shop at 459 Chapel St. will host a fundraiser for the Steere Farm Elementary School PTA on Friday, Jan. 5 from 3-8 p.m. Ten percent of all purchases will benefit the PTA.

Paul Juneau

Burrillville native Paul Juneau will have a brief visit in town this week amid on ongoing journey with his family, and will greet friends and followers at an event at Bravo Brewing Company. Juneau will perform at the brewery at 75 Pascoag Main St. on Saturday, Jan. 6 starting at 6 p.m. Teddis Food Truck will also be on site from 2-8 p.m. serving Asian cuisine.

Town meetings

The Burrillville Extended Care Board of Directors will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 2 starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Steere Farm Elementary School Library at 915 Steere Farm Road. The agenda is here.
