BURRILLVILLE — Local officials are investigating the cause of fire overnight at the property made famous by the 2013 horror film The Conjuring.

A barn on the Round Top Road property sustained some damage, but is still standing according to the owner.

Firefighters were reportedly called to the scene just before midnight on Sunday, Dec. 3 and were able to contain the blaze, which did not damage the main house, now a tourist attraction for the paranormal curious.

“Thankfully, staff jumped straight into action, and firefighters were able to contain and put out the flames,” the business noted on social media. “We are unaware of the cause at this time, and hope to find out more soon.”

Among those assisting Harrisville Fire Department with response at the late night/early morning blaze was the Pascoag Fire Department, sending duty, call and per diem personnel, along with Tower 4, Engines 42 and 44, and Rescue 4. The department noted that their units came back in service by around 4:45 a.m.

Management noted that the barn is still standing, and that staff is safe.

“We are awaiting more information regarding next steps for repairs,” they noted. “The house itself is fine, and the spirits within it are okay, as well. We appreciate all of the love and support being sent our way.”

The fire is now under investigation.
