Filled cruisers, wreath making & a meat raffle: Five things to know in Glocester this week

Cruisers filled

The Glocester Police Department held a Fill-a-Cruiser event to benefit the Glocester Food Pantry over the weekend with the goal of filling four cruisers. The department announced that thanks to the generosity of local residents, seven cruisers were filled and the pantry will be stocked for the holidays.

“We want to thank everyone who came out to help today including Councilman Steere, Councilwoman Greathouse, our officers, their families, and everyone who donated,” the department noted this week.

Meat raffle

The Glocester Lions Club will host a meat raffle on Sunday, Nov. 19 at Pinewood Pizza & Pub at 16 Terry Lane. Doors will open at noon with raffles starting at 1 p.m. Ticket sheets cost $30 or $60 for three sheets and come with a free buffet.

New sign

The Glocester Emergency Management Agency announced that the town was one of eight across the state this week to receive a visual messaging and observation trailer from Rhode Island Emergency Management through the use of the State Homeland Security Grant Program. Be on the lookout for the sign in town, as well as Providence, East Greenwich, Bristol, Narragansett and Hopkinton.

Wreath making

The Farm at 463 Tourtellot Hill Road will host a series of Wreath Making Workshops this month, with events on Saturdays and Sundays. Join organizers in the barn with the smell of evergreens and holiday to create one of a kind wreaths from all local materials. The events will include live demonstrations and help with questions, and all materials will be provided.

This weekend, workshops will be held on Saturday, Nov. 18 starting at 10 a.m. and Sunday, Nov. 19 at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Tickets cost from $45 to $60 and include one wreath, a warm holiday beverage and one baked good. To reserve a spot visit https://www.thefarminri.com/eventsworkshops

The West Glocester Fire Department Executive Board will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 14 starting at 5:30 p.m. at 2410 Putnam Pike. The agenda is here.
