Cards for Troops

Students at Burrillville Middle School wrote holiday cards for military members serving overseas this week. Burrillville High School Class of 2021 graduate Collin Boisvert, who is serving on the USS Milius stationed in Yokosuka, Japan, will be handing the cards out to his shipmates.

Those who would like to participate can send in cards with BMS students or drop them off to the school’s main office today, Monday, Nov. 6.

Veteran’s Day

The Allied Veteran’s Council American Legion Posts 88 and 17, and VFW Post 1023 will hold a Veteran’s Day Ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 11 starting at 11 a.m. at Veteran’s Park by The Bridgeway in Pascoag. Questions can be directed to Post 88 Commander Raymond Trinque at raytrank101@cox.net.

Car raffle

Speaking of veterans, do you know one who needs a vehicle? Burrillville-based New Englanders Helping Our Veterans has teamed up with Henri’s Auto in Woonsocket to give away three cars to deserving former service members in need. Veterans can enter the Henri’s Heroes raffle here and the winners will be drawn on air on 99.5FM and 1240 AM between 8 and 9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 10.

Bronco 5K

The Burrillville Prevention Action Coalition’s fifth annual Bronco 5K walk/run will be held on Sunday, Nov. 12 starting with the Kids’ Fun Run at 8:30 a.m. at A.T. Levy Elementary School at 135 Harrisville Main St. The event features a new course in 2023 and will raise funds for graduating Burrillville High School seniors who have shown commitment to a substance-free lifestyle

Town meetings

The Burrillville Planning Board will hold a meeting on Monday, Nov. 6 starting at 7 p.m. in the community room at Jesse Smith Memorial Library. The agenda is here.

The Burrillville School Committee will hold a budget workshop on Tuesday, Nov. 7 starting at 6 p.m. at the district administrative building at 2300 Bronco Highway. The agenda is here.

The Burrillville Housing Authority will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 8 starting at 6:30 p.m. at 77 Ashton Court. The agenda is here.
