Trunk or Treat

Chepachet Union Church at 1138 Putnam Pike will host a Halloween Trunk or Treat on Tuesday, Oct. 31 from 6 to 7 p.m. Those who need a safe place to take kids trick or treating on Halloween night are asked to send the church a message on Facebook to register, and those interested in handing out candy are asked to show up at 5:30 p.m. to decorate. The activity will be held in the parking lot near Greenhalgh Hall.

Award

Glocester Police Department Patrolman Robert Glaude has been named as a recipient of the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Law Enforcement DUI Achievement Award. Glaude was nominated for the award by Chief Joseph Delprete, who said it was due to the patrolman’s unwavering dedication to DUI enforcement.

“Patrolman Glaude is extremely humble, however his exemplary work over the past year deserves to be recognized,” noted the department this week.

Food drive

Cub Scouts Pack 9 Harmony and Boy Scout Troop 44 Glocester will hold a food drive on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. to noon at Chepachet Union Church at 1138 Putnam Pike at part of the Boy Scouts of America’s annual Scouting for Food program. A donation box will also be available this week at Aegean Pizza at 1195 Putnam Pike and locals are asked to help out by dropping off non-perishable food.

There will be car seat safety checks by Safe Kids RI and a trunk or treat. Kids are encouraged to dress up, and bring a bag to collect candy, take a jump on the bouncy house, get their faces painted, check out some exotic and not so exotic farm animals.

The festival was rescheduled from its original date in October due to weather.
