Final bond session, Spooky Spirits & Coffee with a Cop: Six things to know in North Smithfield this week

Coffee with a Cop

The North Smithfield Police Department will hold Coffee with a Cop on Wednesday, Oct. 25 starting at 9 a.m. at Pound Hill Creamery at 200 Industrial Drive. The event will provide a chance to get to know officers and speak with Chief Tim Lafferty.

Network hour

Good Working, the co-op work space associated with neighboring Gold Door Realty will host their first Good Networking Coffee Hour on Thursday, Oct. 26 from 8 to 9 a.m. at the space at 585 Smithfield Road. Enjoy complimentary coffee while you connect and collaborate with other local professionals. The event will include 60-second elevator pitches, where everyone gets a chance to introduce themselves and their business.

The events will be held on the last Thursday of every month going forward.

Quilt exhibit

The North Smithfield Arts Committee will hold a Quilt Exhibit with selected pieces from the Blackstone Valley Piecemakers Quilting group on display at Town Hall at 83 Green St. through the month of November. An exhibit opening will be held on Thursday, Oct. 26 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Spooky Spirits

North Smithfield’s annual Spooky Spirits Night will be held at Goodwin Brothers Farm at 458 Greenville Road on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 4 to 8 p.m. The event will include food trucks, spooky hay rides, warm cider, face painting and more. Visitors are advised to park at the nearby middle school.

Trunk or Treat

The North Smithfield Parent Teacher Organization will host Trunk or Treat on Sunday, Oct. 29 starting at 1 p.m. at North Smithfield Elementary School at 2214 Providence Pike. The family event will also include pizza, walking tacos, costumes and music, and costs $6 per child age two and up, with all proceeds to benefit #bravelikellora. Town meetings

The final open public forum – an informational session regarding the upcoming vote on Tuesday, Nov. 7 on whether or not to authorize the town to take out an $18 million bond for construction of a police station – will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 24 starting at 6:45 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Green St. The event will be a joint meeting between the Town Council and the Municipal Buildings Review Task Force providing residents with a chance to ask questions and meet with officials from Tecton Architects who designed the project. The North Smithfield Planning Board will hold a meeting on Thursday, Oct. 26 starting at 7 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Green St. The agenda is here.
