Homecoming, Addam’s Family musical & Pascoag budget vote: Five things to know in Burrillville this week

In honor of National Principal Appreciation Month, Burrillville Public Schools posted this photo of principals in the Burrillville School District. Spider plants

The Burrillville High School girls volleyball team will be selling hand-painted potted spider plants for $5 in the lobby of the East Avenue high school on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 5 p.m. in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The team will also have raffles of themed gift baskets, as well as Pink Out t-shirts and a bake sale, with all proceeds to benefit the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Fund.

Homecoming

Burrillville Public Schools have announced that the annual homecoming will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21, with spirit week, a parade, games, and activities.

The public is encouraged to attend the annual homecoming parade starting at 11 a.m. at Callahan School and traveling up Chapel Street, through the center of town, and then up East Avenue to Burrillville High School. The football game will begin at noon at Alumni Field.

Addam’s Family

The Rhode Island Stage Ensemble will perform The Addam’s Family, A New Musical Comedy directed by Monica Blanchette to the Assembly Theatre with performances on Oct. 20, 21 and 27 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 22, 28 and 29 at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $27 for general admission or $23 for students, seniors and military members in advance at www.ristage.org. Entry will cost $2 more at the door.

Mattress fundraiser

The Burrillville High School Class of 2024 will hold a mattress fundraiser on Sunday, Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the school, with discounts on new mattresses and a free set of sheets with every purchase. Offering quality name brands like Simmons, Beautyrest and Therapedic mattresses for up to 50 percent off retail prices. The fundraiser will offer same-as-cash financing, delivery, and savings on mattresses, pillows, sheets, adjustable bases and protectors.

Town meetings

The Pascoag Fire District will hold a special meeting for consideration of the budget on Monday, Oct. 16 starting at 6 p.m. at 141 Howard Ave. The agenda is here. The vote will be followed by a regular meeting for an agenda found here.

The Burrillville Conservation Commission will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 17 starting at 7 p.m. at the Binns building at 111 Chapel St. The agenda is here.
