BURRILLVILLE – A crash Friday afternoon took the lives of two local teenagers according to police.
Andrew Long, 19 of Chestnut Hill Road Chepachet was the driver in the single vehicle crash, on Friday, Oct. 13, and was pronounced dead at the scene following the accident at around 3:30 p.m.
Ariel Welch, 18, of Hillside Drive, Mapleville, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
According to police, an investigation at the scene revealed that a 2010 Ford Sedan driven by Long struck a tree in the 200 block of Lapham Farm Road. Speed is thought to be a factor in the accident, although police note that the incident is still under investigation by Burrillville Police, Glocester Police and Rhode Island State Police, who assisted at the scene.
