Trunk or Treat deadline

It is the final day to register for Trunk-or-Treat, a free event for Burrillville elementary students and their families, hosted by the Burrillville Elementary Schools’ parent-teacher organizations. The event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14, and families must register in advance by Tuesday, Oct. 10.

Bronco families and community partners are also needed as trunk volunteers to make creative not-so-scary Trunk-or-treat displays. Prizes will be awarded for the best trunks. Sign-up to host a trunk here or register to attend here.

The rain date for this event will be Sunday, Oct. 15.

Carrie viewing Prom Party

The Assembly Theatre at 26 East Ave will host a prom-themed viewing of the original 1976 film Carrie on Thursday, Oct. 12 starting at 8 p.m. There will be Carrie Prize Pack raffles. Prom attire is encouraged for the showing of the movie, which is rated “R.” Some cast members from the theater’s November run of Carrie The Musical will be there to join in the watch party.

Tickets cost $5 and will be sold at the event.

Creepy Candyland

Jesse Smith Memorial Library will present Creepy Candyland on Friday, Oct. 13, a haunted walk through the darkness inside the facility at 100 Tinkham Lane, filled with scares suitable for teens and adults. Doors for the free event open at 7 p.m. with the last tour to begin at 8:30 p.m.

Deer hunting

The Rhode Island Division of Fish and Wildlife Outdoor Education and Rhode Island Whitetails are running a Introduction to Deer Hunting Class at the Wallum Lake Rod and Gun Club on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Guided hike

The Burrillville Conservation Commission will hold a guided hike of the Nipmuc River Trail on Saturday, Oct. 14. Participants will meet up at 9:45 a.m. at Callahan Elementary School and board a bus for a short drive to the trailhead for hike lead by Martha Thoman from 10 a.m. to noon. Hikers are advised to dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes, Dogs are not permitted on the hikes, but children are welcome. The event will be rescheduled in the event of high wind, rain or snow.

Skate night

The Burrillville Junior Hockey League will host a Skate Night on Saturday, Oct. 14 starting at 5 p.m. at Levy Rink at 425 East Ave. Enjoy two hours of family skating, open to the public. Entry will be $7 at the door and free skate rentals are available on a first come first serve basis. Refreshments will also be available purchase.

The Burrillville School Committee will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 10 starting at 6 p.m. in the media center at Burrillville High School at 425 East Ave. The agenda is here.
