The pink patch

Members of the Glocester Police Department will be wearing a special patch through the month of October – and residents can purchase one of their own to help out a great cause. The pink patches show support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and a limited number are available for purchase at a cost of $10 – cash only. The items are available for pick up at the station at 162 Chopmist Hill Road Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Proceeds from the patches will be donated to Rhode Island Chapter of Pink Heals.

Shoe drive

The Ponaganset High School soccer boys team is collecting all types of new and gently used shoes to raise funds for activities. Shoes can be dropped off tonight – Tuesday, Oct. 3 – at the team’s first home opener of the season at Ponaganset High School at the 6:30 p.m. game or brought to Trish Hampton’s Pet Boutique at 1182 Putnam Pike.

Arts festival – take #3

It has been rescheduled twice, so let’s hope the weather cooperates. Money Hill Tattoo at 15 Money Hill Road will host an Art Festival to celebrate the business’s five year anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 8 starting at noon. The event will be held at Mulberry Vineyards at 95 Pound Road in Chepachet, and will feature a variety of artists, artisans and vendors.

The naked Hen

The Hen House at 1189 Putnam Pike is soliciting the public’s help in completing the business’s entry for the upcoming Glocester Scarecrow Festival scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 14. Help to make a scarf for their “chick,” by dropping off your piece before the end of this weekend.

The width of the scarf is 28”, and pieces can be made with crochet, knit, weave or any fiber art.
