On Wednesday September 13, 2023 the Glocester Police Department was awarded reaccreditation from the Rhode Island Police Accreditation Commission. The award was accepted by the Glocester accreditation team along with six other police departments at the Sakonnet Point Club, Little Compton. This is the second reaccreditation cycle for the department that started in September of 2016. The RIPAC Accreditation program is comprised of over 200 standards which addresses the most critical law enforcement issues. Credit: Glocester Police

Pack 9 parent meeting

Cub Scout Pack 9 Harmony/Fogarty Elementary School will hold a parent meeting at The Trap at 10 Smith Ave. in Smithfield on Wednesday, Sept. 20 starting at 6 p.m. Newcomers are welcomed to learn about Scouts, register their child, ask questions or help plan upcoming scouting adventures.

Forum

A citizen-led public forum to discuss transgender/gender non-conforming policy at Foster/Glocester Regional School District will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 20 starting at 6 p.m. at Laurel Grange at 351 Snake Hill Road. All concerned citizens are welcome to attend to help develop strategies for moving forward both locally and at the state level. The organizer has requested no press/media.

Car Show

Hills Tavern and Grill at 417 Putnam Pike will host a car, truck and bike show on Saturday, Sept. 23 to benefit the Glocester Food Pantry with check in from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and $25 entry fee for vehicles, plus non perishable food items. The public is invited to check out the vehicles and also donate items for the pantry. Winners will take home 58 trophies.

Rescheduled Art Festival

Rescheduled from last week due to windy weather, Money Hill Tattoo at 15 Money Hill Road will host an Art Festival to celebrate the business’s five year anniversary on Saturday, Sept. 23 starting at noon. The event will be held at Mulberry Vineyards at 95 Pound Road in Chepachet, and will feature a variety of artists, artisans and vendors.

Town meetings

Please note that due to a website outage, the below meeting schedule only begins on Wednesday, Sept. 20.

The Glocester Town Council is scheduled to hold a meeting on Thursday, Sept. 21 starting at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike. The agenda will be posted on the Secretary of State website here.
