NORTH SMITHFIELD – After a meeting Thursday evening, the Pumpkin Festival Committee announced that after much deliberation, for safety, they have decided to move the 16th annual event to Sunday, Sept 17, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“Please be aware, guests will be sharing parking with Xpress Football, as they have a tournament on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., on the upper football field,” noted festival Chairperson Elizabeth Featherston.

Featherston noted that the upper parking lot and North Smithfield Middle School parking lot will be used for football, with all remaining for Pumpkin Festival visitors, including the high school parking lot and student parking lot off of Grange Road.

To assist with possible parking issues, the Featherston noted that the committee has made arrangements for shuttle buses from North Smithfield Elementary School at 2214 Providence Pike to the festival from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Anyone who uses the shuttle buses will get free admission into the festival, said Featherston.

“The Pumpkin Festival Committee is looking forward to seeing everyone on Sunday and having our best festival ever,” she said.
