Meat raffle

The Glocester Lions Club will hold a meat raffle on Sunday, Sept. 17 at Pinewood Pub at 16 Terry Lane in Chepachet. Doors will open at noon at the event with the raffle to start at 1 p.m. Guests can purchase sheets of 26 tickets for $30 or three sheets for $60, and a free buffet comes with the purchase.

Art Festival

Money Hill Tattoo at 15 Money Hill Road will host an Art Festival to celebrate the business’s five year anniversary on Saturday, Sept. 16 starting at noon. The event will be held at Mulberry Vineyards at 95 Pound Road in Chepachet, and will feature a variety of artists, artisans and vendors.

Volunteers wanted

Friendship Lodge #7 will hold a planning meeting for the Glocester Scarecrow Festival on Tuesday, Sept. 12 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at their headquarters at 1167 Putnam Pike. The group will review plans for the festival – scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 14 – and give volunteers assignments for jobs including registration, set up, clean up, the Pumpkin Patch and more. All interested in helping out are encouraged to attend.

Vote for Isla

Proud mom Ashley Jelley is asking Glocester residents to vote for her daughter Isla in the Little Miss Beauty competition. “Isla is a sweet, beautiful little girl who is rocking an extra chromosome,” notes the entry, found here. “She is the most perfect, amazing little human.”

The family is also raising funds for the Down Syndrome Society of Rhode Island’s annual Buddy Walk & Fall Harvest Festival, to be held Sunday, Oct. 1. Donations can be made here.

Town meetings

The West Glocester Fire District will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 12 starting at 6:30 p.m. at Station #1 at 2410 Putnam Pike. The agenda is here.

The Glocester Housing Authority will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 12 starting at 7 p.m. at Laurel Crest at 64 Chestnut Hill Road. The agenda is here.

The Glocester Land Trust will not be holding their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 12.

The Glocester Conservation Commission will not be holding their regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, Sept. 14.
