Car show, survey & 15th festival: Five things to know in Burrillville this week

Trash delay

There was no trash or recycling collection on Monday, Sept. 4 due to Labor Day, and pickup throughout town will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week.

Survey

The town of Burrillville is in the second phase of a grant opportunity for a multi-purpose community center and now needs feedback from residents with a short survey. The survey can be filled out and submitted online here; printed. scanned and emailed to ahall@burrillville.org; or mailed or dropped off at the Department of Public Works at 200 Clear River Drive Oakland, RI 02858.

Green Festival

The town’s 15th annual Green Festival, put on through a collaboration between the Pascoag Utility District and Burrillville’s Parks and Recreation Department will be held on Saturday, Sept. 9, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Stillwater Mill Center at 100 Tinkham Lane. The festival features ways to have a more sustainable lifestyle and future, and reusable lunch bags packed with energy saving information, recycling tips and more will be given to the first 400 attendees

Car show

Overlook Nursing & Rehab will host a car show for a cause on Saturday, Sept. 9 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 14 Rock Ave. The event will feature live music, raffles, face painting, food trucks and more, with all proceeds to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.

Town meetings

The Burrillville School Committee Policy Subcommittee will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 6 starting at 10:30 a.m. at the administration building at 2300 Broncos Highway. The agenda is here.

The Pascoag Fire District will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 6 starting at 6 p.m. at Station #2 at 141 Howard Ave. The agenda is here.

The Burrillville Affordable Housing Board will hold a meeting on Thursday, Sept. 7 starting at 2 p.m. at the Town Hall annex at 144 Harrisville Main St. The agenda is here.
