Northern, RI – Let’s not call summer over just yet… at least not until we have a last weekend hurrah to mark its demise.

Welcome to the weekend, northern Rhode Island. With an extra day of leisure on Labor Day, and several free events marking the close summer and the start of the fall season, we’re hopeful it will be a good one.

To start, the final Family Fun Friday at Spring Lake Beach takes place today, Friday, Sept. 1, with character night, a showing of Jaws and much more. In North Smithfield, there will be a free concert with Cee Cee and at Town Hall. It’s also the last Patio Friday at Bravo Brewing Company with live music and a beer release, and on Saturday, Hill’s Tavern will host a Goodbye Summer dance party. Don’t forget the Oakland Mapleville Fire Department’s 64th annual muster on Sunday, with a parade, raffles, food and the firefighter’s competition. We’ve even thrown in one live show for those looking to get out on Monday.

Save on gas and make your weekend local with our roundup of all of the things to do in our three-town radius below.
