Scouts run, Carrie auditions & a cornhole tournament: Five things to know in Burrillville this week

Cornhole Tournament

Burrillville Little League will hols a Cornhole Tournament with a cash prize of $1,000 for the first place team and $400 for second place on Saturday, Aug. 5 at Peck Park at 1 Casino Ave. starting at 3 p.m. Teams must pre-register at a cost of $100 by emailing s_luttge@yahoo.com.

The public can visit to watch the competition, which will feature a 50/50 raffle and food trucks on site. Bravo Brewing Company will also be serving draft beers.

Auditions

Assembly Act will hold auditions for Carrie the Musical on Sunday, Aug. 6 and Tuesday, Aug. 8 from 6-8 p.m. at the Assembly Theatre at 26 East Ave. Those auditioning are asked to provide a song with a background track and head shot, and will also be asked to provide a cold reading. The show will cast actors ages 14 and up for a performance to be held November 3-5. Rehearsal will be held Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Scouts Motorcycle Run

A motorcycle run to benefit Boy Scout Troop 1 Pascoag will take place on Sunday, Aug. 6, starting at Cady’s Tavern at 2168 Putnam Pike in Chepachet and ending with dinner and music by the Dirty Old Men at the Townsmen Club. The event is sponsored by Peter Drouin and will include raffles and prizes. Tickets cost $20 per person and can be purchased at Burrillville Motors, Cady’s, Champs Liquors, Christy’s Liquors and Pat’s Service Station.

Weekly events

Family Fun Fridays continue at Spring Lake Beach this week, with a karate exhibition scheduled to be part of the fun on Friday, Aug. 4. The weekly events come with games, snacks and entertainment, and are free with beach admission.

Country Wild will play the Riverwalk Times concert series on Saturday, Aug. 5, with a free show at the Stillwater Mill pavilion starting at 6 p.m. La Carreta Authentic Mexican food truck will be on site.

Don’t for get the Burrillville Farmer’s Market continues on Saturday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the pavilion.
