BURRILLVILLE – A Harrisville man was arrested this month and charged with multiple counts of felony child molestation following reports to police from two juvenile sisters.
John P. Souza, age 60, has been charged with one count of first degree child molestation and three counts of second degree child molestation.
According to Souza’s arrest report, the victims, ages 10 and 12, reported the incident to police in May. Law enforcement officials interviewed both children as part of a lengthy investigation according to police, and an arrest warrant was issued on Friday, July 7.
Souza was spotted by an officer while driving that same evening at 11:40 p.m. and taken into custody. He was arraigned in 6th District court on July 10 and held without bail.
