Full lineup of events Saturday will celebrate Heritage Day in North Smithfield

Three free walking tours will be among the events taking place Saturday.

NORTH SMITHFIELD – An annual day-long celebration of community and history – that includes a little bit of something for everyone – will take place in North Smithfield on Saturday, July 8, with the first in a series of free festivities to set to begin 9 a.m.

Heritage Day – a combination of events put on by the North Smithfield Heritage Association, the North Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department and other town-based organizations – will include elements for kids and families, car enthusiasts, gardeners, history buffs and more.

Below is a complete list of Heritage Day activities, along with associated times and locations.

9 a.m.: Heritage Hall, 101 Greene St. Slatersville Walking Tour, Learn about village history on this short combination tour, led by a ranger from the National Park Service and filmmaker Christian de Rezendes

10 a.m.- 1 p.m.: Pacheco Park, 11 North Main St. Kids Day in the Park, Face painting, activities, bounce houses, Touch-a-Truck, temporary tattoos, balloons, youth program booths and a North Smithfield Fire & Rescue Service Hose Down

10 a.m.-4 p.m.: Heritage Hall & Town Hall, 83 & 101 Green St.

Car Cruise: The Road Angels Car Club will have vehicles on display on the lawn behind Town Hall

Antiques and Artifacts Display: The NSHA will have a variety of displays for viewing at Heritage Hall, including local art and one by the Art Advisory Committee showing photographs from past town Memorial Day Parades

Craft Vendor Fair: Shop with 45 vendors set up in front of Town Hall and enjoy hot dogs, hamburgers and kettle corn for purchase. Liberty Farms offering carriage rides

12:30 p.m.: Slatersville Cemetery, 101 Green St. Cemetery Care Demonstration Learn about grave cleaning

1 p.m.: Slatersville Cemetery, 101 Green St. Cemetery Walking Tour With live reenactors portraying some who are buried there

2-4 p.m. Halliwell property, 358 Victory Highway, Community Garden Open House Learn about the garden and connect with fellow gardening enthusiasts

4 p.m.: Heritage Hall, 101 Green St. Blunders Historic District Walking Tour

6:30 p.m. North Smithfield High School Athletic Fields, 1850 Providence Pike, DJ, food trucks & Fireworks to begin at 9 p.m.
