Family Fun Fridays

Spring Lake Beach has announced the start of Family Fun Fridays, to be held on select Fridays throughout the summer at the Burrillville beach at 50 Old Hillside Drive. The first event in the series, to be held this Friday, June 23, will feature crafts and a sand castle contest. Free with beach admission or a season pass, the events will feature games, snacks and entertainment.

Burrillville Prevention Action Coalition will also sponsor Movie Nights on select Fridays through the summer.

Rescheduled fair

The Burrillville Parks & Recreation Department, in conjunction with the Burrillville Farmer’s Market and the Jesse Smith Memorial Library, will hold the town’s 30th annual Old Time Family Fun Fair on Saturday, June 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the pavilion area by 100 Tinkham Lane in Harrisville. The event, which was cancelled last Saturday due to inclement weather, will feature free live music, kids activities, roving characters, giant lawn games, informational booths, giveaways, raffles, food trucks and more.

Bring a box of macaroni and cheese to benefit the Burrillville Weekend Snack Pack program and receive a free raffle ticket. View a map featuring vendor locations and flyer for the event here.

Broadway Bound

Assemglee, the Assembly Theatre’s in-house performing group, will hold its first performance on Saturday and Sunday, July 24 & 25 at the East Avenue theater. Broadway Bound, A Cabaret for the Broadway Dreamers will take place Saturday night at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $15 and are available at assemblytheatre.org.

Family Music Class

Burrillville Parks & Recreation will host Family Music Classes at the Stillwater Pavilion in Harrisville. The program, for children up to age 8, will feature games, songs and rhymes, books and instruments on four Wednesdays nights, July 12, 19 and 26, and August 2, starting at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $50 per family by calling (508) 431-3129. Drop ins are also welcome at a cost of $15 per family.

Town meetings

The Burrillville Personnel Board will hold a meeting on Tuesday, June 20 starting at 8:30 a.m. at Town Hall at 105 Harrisville Main St. The agenda is here.
