Sunday vendors

The Glocester Recreation Department is now accepting vendor applications for Sundays in the Village, to be held on Sundays from July 2-23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The events will feature live music, food trucks and more. To register as a vendor visit https://www.glocesterri.org/recreation.htm.

Leja Field dedication

Glocester Little League will hold a re-dedication ceremony to honor the memory of Eric Leja on Saturday, June 10 at noon. The public is invited to the event, which will feature food trucks and music, and will be followed by a Jr./Sr. Division scrimmage.

Summer hours

The Glocester libraries – the Harmony Library and the Glocester Manton Library – are reminding residents that both facilities will be closed on Saturdays in July and August.

The Glocester Manton Library will be open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and the Harmony Library is open Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the two summer months.

Learn to Swim

The town’s Learn to Swim program is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 27 this year at both Spring Grove and Marion Iron beaches. Classes will be held Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with 25 minute sessions for six weeks. Lessons are available to Glocester residents only, from age three through the advanced swimmer. A nominal registration fee of $1 per child will be collected at the first lesson of the season.

Registration will be open at https://form.123formbuilder.com/3564490/swim-registration through Saturday, June 25, with class lists posted on the Glocester Recreation Facebook page on Sunday, June 26.

Town meetings

The West Glocester Fire District will hold a meeting on Tuesday, June 6 at 2410 Putnam Pike starting at 5:30 p.m. The agenda is here.

The Foster-Glocester School Committee will hold a meeting on Tuesday, June 6 at Ponaganset High School at 137 Anan Wade Road starting at 6:30 p.m. for executive session and 7 p.m. for open session. The agenda is here.

The Glocester Economic Development Commission will hold a meeting on Tuesday, June 6 at 1145 Putnam Pike starting at 7 p.m. The agenda is here.

The Glocester Conservation Commission will not hold its regular monthly meeting on June 8.
