Summer concerts

The town has announced the line-up for the 2023 summer concert series, with free live music shows on Thursday evenings from late July through August at the Town Hall gazebo at 83 Green St.

The series, sponsored by the North Smithfield Parks & Recreation Department and Navigant Credit Union, will begin July 20 with All About Amy. Shows continue with Country Wild Heart performing July 27; Black Plain Road August 3; Cee Cee and the Riders August 10; Whiskey Road August 17, ending with The Live Music Band on August 24.

All of the free shows are weather permitting and set to take place from 6 to 8 p.m.

The town of North Smithfield Highway Department will host a shredding event on Saturday, June 10 at 281 Quaker Highway from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is open to North Smithfield residents with ID and limited to five cartons per household.

Open mic

In addition to Friday night concerts – check out Northeast Groove Band this week at 7 p.m. – The Island at 1600 Victory Highway is now hosting Open Mic with Tommy Sprague every Monday night starting at 6:30 p.m. Local comedians, singers and musicians are invited to participate, and the public is invited to attend.

Each table will compete to be featured on the Wall of Fame.

On Sunday, the church will host a Celebration of Music, a special Sunday service honoring talented musicians in the congregation, with performances by the Senior Choir, the Handbell Choir, a guest violinist and a, “noteworthy,” children’s message.
