Glocester voters approve budget referendum

GLOCESTER – Glocester voters approved all 5 questions on Tuesday’s ballot.

Question #1: Shall the Town Budget for fiscal year 2023/24 appropriate a sum of $32,962,673 which includes Municipal Services & Capital Expenses; Glocester School Dept. Operating & Capital Expenses; Glocester’s share of the Foster/Glocester Regional Operating & Capital Expenses; and includes a Levy of Property Tax (not including Motor Vehicle taxes) not less than $24,854,009 or more than $25,095,310?

Approved, 229 to 58.

Question #2: Shall the Town Budget include an appropriation of $130,526 from the surplus for capital expenses? This appropriation will come from existing surplus and will not increase the amount to be raised by taxes.

Approved, 222 to 65

 Question #3: Shall the Town Budget include an appropriation of $100,000 as a reserve for future student population proration for the Foster/Glocester region. This appropriation will come from surplus and will not increase the amount to be raised by taxes?

Approved, 202 to 86

 Question #4: Shall the Town Budget include an appropriation from surplus of $150,000 for paving? This appropriation will come from surplus and will not increase the amount to be raised by taxes?

Approved, 243 to 44

Question #5: Shall the Town Budget include an appropriation of $100,000 from surplus for future operational expenses of Glocester Public Schools? This appropriation will come from existing surplus and will not increase the amount to be raised by taxes.

Approved, 208 to 80

Tax rates for residences will be $13.54 per $1000. Rates for commercial properties will be $16.24 per $1000. The tax rate is set at 3.96%.
