CRANSTON – The RI Hospitality Education Foundation has launched The Alfred A. Zannella Memorial Scholarship for deserving Rhode Islanders pursuing education towards a career in the foodservice, lodging, or tourism industries.

The scholarship was established in memoriam to honor Al Zannella, executive vice president of Mancini Beverage and a longtime board member of the RI Hospitality Association. Zannella was a dedicated member of the hospitality community who was always willing to lend a hand to help his industry thrive. He was named RI Hospitality “Man of the Year” in 2019.

The scholarship assists Rhode Island college students, adult learners, and current incumbent hospitality employees to realize their potential through higher education or professional development training opportunities and can be used to cover any student expenses such as tuition, lab fees, textbooks, and uniforms.

Those interested in the scholarship must complete the application form, submit an essay outlining their career plans/educational goals and objectives, provide a letter of recommendation from a teacher or employer, maintain good academic standing and/or make progress towards a degree or RIHA/RIHEF sponsored professional development training certification, and provide an anticipated graduation date.  The application process will be open on a rolling basis and can be found online, at: https://www.rihospitality.org/Scholarships-Alfred-A-Zannella-Memorial-Scholarship-Application
