Sweet’s history

The Burrillville Historical & Preservation Society will offer a slide show on the history of Sweet’s Hill at the Assembly Theater on East Avenue on Wednesday, April 12 starting at 6 p.m. The free event, sponsored by the BH & PS and the Burrillville Land Trust will give visitors the chance to learn about the Land Trust’s efforts to Save Sweet’s Hill and how they can help.

Jesse Smith celebrates

Several events this week will mark the celebration of the 15th anniversary of Jesse Smith Memorial Library, starting with after-hour Laser Tag to be held on Wednesday, April 12 from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Registration is required for the event, open to teens in grades 6-12 and a parent or guardian will need to sign a permission slip.

Thursday, April 13 is BubbleBulooza, with visitors to help fill the Riverwalk with bubble from 10 a.m. to noon. No registration is required for the family-friendly April vacation program, to be held weather-permitting.

On Friday, April 14, it’s Dancing with Hoops with Judi Jones starting at 2 p.m., a musically-fueled interactive hoop dancing program to be held at the pavilion, weather permitting.

Dinner dance

St. Patrick’s Church annual spring Dinner Dance will held on Saturday, April 15 in the hall of the church at 45 Harrisville Main St. The event will feature a chicken dinner starting at 6 p.m. followed by dancing with a performance by the Live Music Band starting at 7 p.m. There will also be a cash bar with beer, wine and soft drinks. Tickets cost $25 per person or two for $40 and can be purchased by calling (401) 568-5600 or (401) 568-4723.

Guided hike

The Burrillville Conservation Commission will hold a guided hikes of the Nipmuc River Trail on Saturday, April 15. Participants will meet up at 9:45 a.m. at Callahan Elementary School and board a bus for a short drive to the trailhead for hike lead by Martha Thoman from 10 a.m. to noon. Hikers are advised to dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes, Dogs are not permitted on the hikes, but children are welcome. The event will be rescheduled in the event of high wind, rain or snow.

Town meetings

The Pascoag Fire District will. hold a meeting on Monday, April 10 starting at 7 p.m. at 141 Howard Ave. The agenda is here.

The Burrillville Sewer Commission will hold a meeting on Tuesday, April 11 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Wastewater Treatment Facility at 141 Clear River Drive. The agenda can be found here.

The Harrisville Fire District will hold a meeting on Tuesday, April 11 starting at 7 p.m. at 115 Central St. The agenda is here.

The Nasonville Fire District will hold a meeting on Tuesday, April 11 starting at 7 p.m. at 2577 Victory Highway. The agenda is here.
