Firefighters knock out Wednesday morning blaze in Harrisville

BURRILLVILLE – The fire districts responded to a structure fire in Harrisville Wednesday morning, containing the blaze to a detached garage at a home in the village.

Harrisville Fire Chief Michael Gingell said that firefighters were called to home around 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5. One civilian was observed for injuries at the scene, but ultimately did not require hospital transport.

“The fire was contained to the detached garage, which suffered moderate fire damage,” Gingell said.

The Oakland Mapleville and Pascoag Fire Departments provided mutual aid, while were Wallum Lake provided stand-by fire coverage for the town.  

GIngell said the final fire engine cleared the scene at noon and the Burrillville building inspector was called to the scene. Pascoag Utility terminated power to the garage. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Rhode Island State Fire Marshal’s office.
