Tax rate ad

Town Councilor Stephen Arnold responded this week to concerns regarding an advertisement of the proposed tax rate following the recent increase in assessed values of Glocester homes. Arnold noted that the ad – which is required by state law – was drafted prior to receipt of the new values and utilized an estimated rate of $17.25.

“The good news is that the tax rate per $1000 will be much less than what was just published,” Arnold said. “The estimated tax rate was advertised pursuant to state law and the town charter at a time when final information regarding the statistical revaluation was not available.”

A public hearing on the proposed budget will be held on Tuesday, April 18 with a budget referendum scheduled for Tuesday, May 23.

Questions or concerns can be directed to the Glocester Finance Department at (401) 568-6206 ext. 5.
