Kindergarten registration

Registration for Burrillville students who will begin kindergarten in the 2023/2024 school year will be held on Wednesday, April 5 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, April 6 from 2 to 7 p.m. in the cafeteria of Austin T. Levy Elementary School. Children must turn 5 by September 1 to be eligible, and parents are asked to bring proof of residency including two current utility bills, a current tax bill or mortgage statement and a notarized affidavit of residency. They must also bring their child’s original birth certificate and record of immunization physical. Children who require outreach screening should also attend with their parent or guardian.

KBVB Anti-litter walk

Keep Blackstone Valley Beautiful’s anti-litter walking initiative comes to Burrillville this week, held in collaboration with Rhode Island First Lady Susan McKee. The town-based walk will cover a three-mile route starting at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 6.

Participants will get exercise while picking up any litter they see with grabbers. Walkers will meet at the Burrillville Police Station at 1477 Victory Highway.

The walks will continue in the coming weeks, heading to all ten Rhode Island Blackstone Valley communities promoting, “Keep Rhody Litter Free,” an award-winning website encouraging residents to help clean up outdoor spaces and preserve natural heritage. Walks will last approximately an hour and weather delays will push the walk to Friday of the same week.

Pop up market

The Burrillville Farmer’s Market will host a pop up market at Bravo Brewing Company at 75 Pascoag Main St. on Saturday, April 8 from 1 to 4 p.m. The event will feature entertainment by Jessy Desorcy, along with items for sale including fresh produce, local meats, baked goods, preserves and work by local artisans.

Egg hunt

Postponed twice due to inclement weather, the Burrillville Parks & Recreation Department’s annual Easter event will take place on Good Friday, April 7 at Branch River Park by Burrillville Middle School. The event will begin with brunch by Barbara’s Quick Lunch starting at 10:30 a.m.and running through 1:30 p.m. It will include raffle tables and participation by the Easter Bunny and “Buckleupallofus” before or after the egg hunt, open to kids ages 8 and under, to be held at 11 a.m. Participants should bring a basket to collect eggs.

The Burrillville Planning Board will hold a meeting on Monday, April 3 starting at 7 p.m. in the community room of Jesse Smith Memorial Library at 100 Tinkham Lane. The agenda is here.
