This week’s Newshound Gretta, affectionately known as “Gretta girl,” was found as a stray in Texas and was estimated to have been born in May of 2018.

The boxer/bulldog/pittie mix was adopted into North Smithfield resident Beth Cleary’s home on May 27 pf 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic. Cleary notes that Gretta was described by her foster family as friendly, happy and good with people and dogs. She had never been indoors and was cautious at first.

Today, Gretta is known as “the licker.’

“She has no ounce of aggression with exception of how much she wants to lick everyone she meets,” said Cleary.

Cleary said Gretta is also, “a living garbage disposal and is the cutest beggar I’ve ever met.”

Her favorite foods are eggs and salmon.

“Gretta has stuck by my side through some pretty tough times,” said the proud owner. “She was actually depressed when her brother died. Now, she is a great older sister and a momma’s girl.”

“She pulls on a leash, eats poop and doesn’t come when called, but I still think she is just the best girl ever,” Cleary said.
