Hike

The North Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department’s guided weekly hikes return this week to Wunnashowatuckqut including Old Harkness Road and High Rocks Gorge. The family-oriented hikes follow well-defined and marked trails at a leisurely pace stopping occasionally at scenic overlooks. Trails are 2-3 miles long and take 1.5 – 2 hours to finish.

Hikes cancel in the event of steady rain or heavy snowfall, and hikers are advised to wear long shirts and trousers, preferably hiking shoes, use insect repellent and bring a bottle of water. In the event of snow and ice-covered trails, hikers should wear slip-on ice grips or snowshoes.
