MLK Day

There will be no trash or recycling pickup in Burrillville on Monday, Jan. 16 during the Martin Luther King Day holiday, and pickup will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. Questions can be directed to the Department of Public Works Refuse and Recycling Division at (401) 568-4440 ext. 12.

Old sneakers wanted

The Burrillville High School swim team has launched a sneaker drive fundraiser to raise money for Bronco swag for athletes. The swim team will earn funds based on the total quantity of gently worn, new and used shoes collected. To help out, simply drop shoes in the donation boxes now located at the high school or Li’l General in Harrisville.

Community service

Burrillville Little League has community service hours available for high school students, with opportunities to serve as umpires, perform field cleanup and maintenance, clean and prep the snack shop, bathrooms and dug outs or work in the concession during games. Those interested in helping out should contact the league.

Registration for the upcoming season opened on Sunday, Jan. 1. Sign up today and avoid the late fees. Players ages 4-16 are encouraged to join at Burrillvillelittleleague.org.
