On a roll

The North Smithfield High School boys’ varsity basketball team invites fans to cheer them on as they take on Moses Brown on Monday, Jan. 9 in a home conference game starting at 7 p.m. The Division 3 team is undefeated in league play at 7-0.

Lantern walk

Families are invited to celebrate the beauty of winter with an event at North Smithfield Public Library on Thursday, Jan. 12. Starting at 4:30 p.m. Visitors will enjoy a story, a craft and a short wintery lantern walk in the woods. Participants are reminded to dress warmly, and must sign up at https://nspl.evanced.info/signup

Survey

Sen. Jessica de la Cruz, a Republican representing District 23 in North Smithfield, Burrillville and Glocester, is asking constituents what they think state lawmakers should focus on in 2023. Share your opinion on legislative priorities by filling out the survey found here.

Heritage walk

The North Smithfield Heritage Association will host a Heritage Walk of Primrose and Grange Road on Saturday, Jan. 14. The tour will include Sheldon Four Corners, NS19, Mathewson Homestead, Malavery House; Durrans Farm NS20; Primrose Grange; NS30 and Blackmar-Wing Farm ruins NS26 and 40. Participants will meet at the North Smithfield High School tennis courts at 9:30 a.m. and are encouraged to wear long pants, use insect repellent and bring water.

Town meetings

The North Smithfield Fire & Rescue Service Board of Directors will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 10 at 1470 Providence Pike starting at 6:30 p.m. The agenda is here.

The North Smithfield Zoning Board will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 10 starting at 7 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Green St. The agenda is here.

The North Smithfield School Committee will hold a joint meeting with the Town Council for budget discussions on Thursday, Jan. 12 starting at 6 p.m. at North Smithfield Middle School at 1850 Providence Pike. The agenda can be found here.
