DPW news

The Burrillville Department of Public Works notes that there will be no trash and recycling pickup on Monday, Jan. 2 in celebration of the New Year’s holiday, and pickup will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. DPW is also reminding residents that no plastic bags of any kind are accepted in recycling carts and that bags can contaminate recycling loads. View the full notice here.

Girls softball

Registration is now open for Burrillville Girls Softball spring season.The program costs $75 for 6u and 8u divisions, and $115 for 10u, 12u and 14u groups, with uniform shirts and socks provided. To learn more or sign up visit burrillvillegirlssoftball.com.

Parks thank you, winter programs

The Burrillville Parks & Recreation Department has published a notice thanking all who helped make their programs and events a success in 2022, from home delivery and snack pack volunteers, to local businesses, and school and municipal staff.

The department has also announced winter programs for 2023 including programs for seniors, exercise classes and more. The full list can be found here.

Community service hours

Burrillville Little League has community service hours available for high school students, with opportunities to serve as umpires, perform field cleanup and maintenance, clean and prep the snack shop, bathrooms and dug outs or work in the concession during games. Those interested in helping out should contact the league. Registration for the upcoming season also opened on Sunday, Jan. 1. Learn more and sign up at burrillvillelittleleague.org.

Town meetings

The Nasonville Fire District Merger Subcommittee will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 3 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the station at 2577 Victory Highway. The agenda is here.

The Burrillville Affordable Housing Board will hold a meeting on Thursday, Jan. 5 starting at 2 p.m. at the Town Hall Annex at 144 Harrisville Main St. The agenda is here.
