Fill-a-Cruiser, Christmas parade & village shopping: Five things to know in Glocester this week

Candlelight shopping

The town’s annual Candlelight Shopping events begin this week, with nearly 20 businesses and organizations signed on to take part in seasonal fun through the historic village. Starting on Thursday, Dec. 1, shops throughout Chepachet will be decorated for the season, and streets will be lit with antique street lights, while the sounds of holiday music add to the old-fashioned ambiance.

The shopping events will continue on Thursdays through December from 5 to 9 p.m. Locals and visitors are invited to the village to enjoy a unique holiday shopping, dining, and entertainment excursion. To learn more visit candlelightshopping.com. 

Bazaar

The Ponaganset High School Class of 2025 will hold a Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the PHS cafeteria at 137 Anan Wade Road. The event will feature a variety of custom made items with more than 20 local vendors. Guests are also invited to visit with Santa between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. for a picture.

Fill-a-Cruiser

The Glocester Police Department will hold Fill-a-Cruiser at Dino’s Park & Shop at 1020 Putnam Pike on Sunday, Dec. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Police will be collecting items to benefit the Glocester Food Pantry including pasta sauce, dry goods such as sugar and flour, soups and condiments.

Christmas Parade

Glocester First Responders Responders’ annual Christmas Parade will be held Sunday, Dec. 4 starting at 6 p.m. The route will begin at the West Glocester Fire Department and travel along Route 44 to Main Street, turning right on West Greenville Road. The parade will then turn right on Snake Hill Road before ending at Ponaganset High School. Residents are invited to park along the route and wave to Santa.

Town meetings

The Recreation Commission meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 29 has been cancelled.

The Glocester Town Council is scheduled to hold a meeting on Thursday, Dec. 1 starting at 7:30 p.m. at Glocester Town Hall. The agenda will be posted on the Secretary of State’s website here.
