Tax bills & appeals

Tax bills were mailed in Glocester on Tuesday, Nov. 15 and due to the delay in mailing of the bill, Town Clerk Jean Fecteau has announced that property owners have until Friday, Dec. 9 to pay their first quarter bill.

The appeal period for tax bills is 90 days from the first due date of Tuesday, Nov. 1 according to state law. Appeals must be filed with the assessor’s office by Monday, Jan. 30, and once the deadline has passed, the property owner loses all legal right to apply for a possible abatement.

Applications for an appeal can be found online here, as well as in the assessor’s office.

Ladies night

The Creative Room at 6 Money Hill Road Chepachet will host a Ladies Night on Friday, Nov. 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. Each guest to the event will receive one stencil from the provided options, one choice of surface, optional personalization and a handmade bow, along with unlimited craft bar and paint.

Ladies are invited to bring a friend and a bottle of wine. The cost is $40 and registration is available here.

Vendor fair

Hills Tavern at 417 Putnam Pike will hold their annual Holiday Vendor Fair on Saturday, Nov. 26 from noon to 4 p.m. Visitors are invited for holiday shopping.

Also this week at Hill’s, catch White Shadows from 5 to 8 p.m. and Edge of Dreams from 9 p.m. to midnight at a special Thanksgiving eve event. On Sunday, the Tavern will hold a post-Thanksgiving party with The Nurse starting at 2 p.m.

Tree lighting

The Harmony Fire Department will hold its annual tree lighting holiday event on Sunday, Nov. 27 at the fire station at 2410 Putnam Pike from 4 to 7 p.m. Santa and his elves will be on hand, giving out presents, snacks and hot cocoa.

Town meetings

The Glocester Land Trust has cancelled the meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 22.

There are no other town meetings scheduled for the remainder of this week.
