Santa calling

There is still time to register for the Burrillville Parks & Recreation Department’s Santa Calling program and receive a phone call from Kris Kringle himself. Burrillville children in grades two and under will get a chance to talk to Santa sometime between Wednesday, Nov. 30 and Sunday, Dec. 4 to tell him their wishes. The registration deadline is Wednesday, Nov. 23 by calling (401) 568-9470.

The Parks & Recreation staff also has holiday cards on sale, depicting winter scenes in Burrillville created by students from Austin T. Levy Elementary School. Cards cost $4 per pack and can be purchased at their office at 200 Clear River Drive or Li’l General in Harrisville. All proceeds will benefit local families during the holiday season.

Thanksgiving

There will be no trash or recycling pickup on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 24 and pickup will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. Questions can be directed to the Public Works Department at (401) 568-4440 ext. 12.

Speaking of thanks, the Burrillville Town Council and administration issued a “thank you,” this week to volunteers, vendors and restaurant staff who made the recent Lunch & Learn event at Wright’s Farm possible. View the notice here.
