NRIFL meeting

The Oakland Mapleville Fire Department will host the bi-monthly Northern RI Firefighter’s League meeting on Monday, Nov. 21 at the station at 46 Oakland School St. starting at 7:30 p.m. Jay Petrillo from the Firefighter Cancer Support Network will be the guest speaker.

Santa calling

There is still time to register for the Burrillville Parks & Recreation Department’s Santa Calling program and receive a phone call from Kris Kringle himself. Burrillville children in grades two and under will get a chance to talk to Santa sometime between Wednesday, Nov. 30 and Sunday, Dec. 4 to tell him their wishes. The registration deadline is Wednesday, Nov. 23 by calling (401) 568-9470.

The Parks & Recreation staff also has holiday cards on sale, depicting winter scenes in Burrillville created by students from Austin T. Levy Elementary School. Cards cost $4 per pack and can be purchased at their office at 200 Clear River Drive or Li’l General in Harrisville. All proceeds will benefit local families during the holiday season.

Thanksgiving

There will be no trash or recycling pickup on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 24 and pickup will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. Questions can be directed to the Public Works Department at (401) 568-4440 ext. 12.

Once you’re done your turkey, Bravo Brewing Company is hosting a Thanksgiving after party at the brewery at 75 Pascoag Main St. from 5 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 24. Stop by after family time for a craft beer.

Speaking of thanks, the Burrillville Town Council and administration issued a “thank you,” this week to volunteers, vendors and restaurant staff who made the recent Lunch & Learn event at Wright’s Farm possible. View the notice here.

Victorian Holiday

The Downtown Pascoag & Neighborhood Association’s annual Victorian Holiday will take place on Saturday, Nov. 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. on The Bridgeway in Pascoag. The event includes a light parade with fire trucks and more than 100 jeeps this year, vendors and a chance to meet with Santa.

Town meetings

The Burrillville Town Council will hold a special meeting on Monday, Nov. 21 starting at 4 p.m. in the town building at 105 Harrisville Main St. The agenda is here.

The Burrillville Redevelopment Agency will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 22 starting at 7 p.m. in the community room at Jesse Smith Memorial Library. The agenda is here.
