Meditation

The North Smithfield Public Library invites residents to destress with Meditation Facilitator Mary Scannell at a session to be held Monday, Nov. 21 starting at 6:30 p.m. According to library officials, Scannell has brought calmness to many who’ve participated in these free classes. GiftItForward

Pack 7 Slatersville is holding a GiftItForward fundraiser where donors can do some holiday shopping while helping the troop to fund their projects. Thanksgiving Day

Town Hall and the Department of Public Works will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 24 and Friday, Nov. 25 in celebration of Thanksgiving and there will be no trash and recycling pickup on Thursday. Trash and Recycling will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.

North Smithfield Public Library will also be closed Nov. 24-26 for the holiday.

Tools needed

The North Smithfield Heritage Association cemetery group is looking for donations of unused, old tools to help with their efforts. The group is seeking shovels, pry bars, carpenter levels, probe bars, a mortar mixing tub, a masonry hammer, a sledge hammer, stone chisels and more. Those who have items to donate should email nsha@nsheritageassn.com.

Town meetings

The North Smithfield Town Council will hold a meeting on Monday, Nov. 21 starting at 6:45 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Greene St. The agenda is here.

The North Smithfield Municipal Buildings Review Task Force will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 22 starting at 5:30 p.m. at the North Smithfield Police Station at 575 Smithfield Road. The agenda is here.

The North Smithfield Zoning Board will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 22 starting at 7 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Greene St. The agenda is here.
