BURRILLVILLE – Well, it’s Thanksgiving week everyone. Family and friends gather together on Thanksgiving Day and the long holiday weekend to enjoy each other’s company and show thanks for the people they have in their lives. It’s a day of appreciation and celebration with our loved ones.

It can also be hazardous for little kids in the kitchen, in and around, hot stoves. The safest place for a child to be in the family kitchen is at least three feet away from hot stoves. Traditionally, turkeys are placed in the oven very early in the morning with side dishes being prepared during the hours leading up to the afternoon, or early evening meal.

This week’s Sunday Feature coloring cartoon shows the Fearless Dino Protector Squad firefighting and fire safety cartoon characters, reminding kids to stay three feet away from hot stoves. Stoves are hot! Be careful kids.

It’s also a good thing that this hot stove coloring cartoon is available prior to Thanksgiving Day and the long holiday weekend because it allows time to sit down with kids and discuss this fire safety and burn prevention topic while coloring it in at home, grade schools, daycares, libraries and community centers in your city, town and community.

Another advantage of having these kids safety coloring cartoons available for anyone that would like to utilize them is that once they are colored in by a child, they can easily be displayed on the family refrigerator in your home and apartment. The family refrigerator is the focal point in any household. Kids visit the refrigerator more often during the day than any other item in the home on a daily basis every single day of the week. It’s the perfect display item for kids and family safety reminders.

A couple of hot stoves safety measures to help prevent unintended burns is to keep all pot and pan handles turned away from reaching hands of a child, and supervise a child whenever he, or she, is in a kitchen with a hot oven and stove top, while preparing meals for your family.

If you would like more of these useful kids fire safety and burn prevention coloring cartoons for your family members and friends, there is a series available for downloading and printing on the Providence Fire Department official website.

Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
