Friends fundraiser

Friends of the North Smithfield Animal Shelter will hold its third annual Paw Pleasers raffle and fundraiser on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at Tavern 6 two 1 at 621 Pound Hill Road from 5 to 8 p.m., to benefit pet owners living in the town’s senior complex. The event will include door prizes and gift baskets, with tickets costing $1.

Blessings bags

Slatersville Congregational Church is once again assembling Blessings Bags – to be distributed to the homeless and those living in local shelters – containing individually wrapped non-perishable food items and travel-sized toiletries. Items must be donated by Wednesday, Nov. 16 and bags will be assembled for distribution on Sunday, Nov. 20.

Those who would like to participate by donating or helping with assembly should email slatersvillechurch@gmail.com.

Pancake breakfast

BSA Troop 438 North Smithfield will hold a pancake breakfast on Sunday, Nov. 20 to help raise funds for the troop to renovate a newly purchased used trailer and to support their service project efforts. The breakfast will take place at St. John the Evangelist church at 63 School St. from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and costs $10 for adults and $5 for children. Pancakes, sausage, baked goods, coffee, milk and juice will be offered.  

Cinnamon rolls for NSES

The North Smithfield Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization is holding a Thanksgiving fundraiser selling Village Haven cinnamon rolls in time for Thanksgiving dinner. Rolls are being sold by the half dozen for $7 per bag. Pick up will be on Wednesday, Nov. 23 in the NSES parking lot from 2:30 to 4 p.m.  Orders and payments, via Venmo or cash/check in an envelope marked NSPTO, must be received by Friday, Nov. 18.

Town meetings

The North Smithfield Town Council will hold a special meeting in executive session on Monday, Nov. 14 starting at 6 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Green St. for an agenda found here. It will be followed by a second special meeting in open session at 6:45 p.m. for an agenda here.

The North Smithfield Fire & Rescue Service Board of Directors will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 1470 Providence Pike starting at 6:30 p.m. for an agenda found here.

The North Smithfield School Committee will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 15 starting at 6:30 p.m. in the North Smithfield Middle School cafeteria at 1850 Providence Pike for an agenda found here.

The North Smithfield Sewer Commission will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 16 starting at 7 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Green St. for an agenda found here.
