Police identify Glocester woman killed in accident on Putnam Pike

GLOCESTER – Glocester police have released the name of the woman who died on Friday, Oct. 14 following an accident involving two SUVs and a dump truck on Putnam Pike.

Maria Silva, 66, of Glocester, was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital after the crash, where she later died of her injuries.

Three children who were passengers in the SUV Silva was driving were reportedly transported to Hasbro Children’s Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Video footage from the accident obtained from an auto shop by the location showed a tire coming off the dump truck, causing it to skid across the road around 2:30 p.m. Friday afternoon. The driver of the truck, a 55-year-old man from North Providence, did not require hospital transport.

The driver of a second SUV was also evaluated at the scene, according to police.

No charges related to the crash have been announced.
