146 closures

Driver can expect intermittent closures overnight on Route 146 on Monday, Sept. 26 and Tuesday, Sept. 27 as the Rhode Island Department of Transportation demolishes two bridges in Lincoln, on Twin River Road and Breakneck Hill Road.

The work may result in slow moving traffic between 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., and possible temporary ramp closures, with detours to Route 246.

Stop the Bleed

There are still seats available for a free class this week that will teach residents how to save the life of someone experiencing uncontrolled bleeding. Operation: Stop the Bleed will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 28 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Greene St.

The class is limited to 50 people and reservations are required by calling Richard’s wife, Cheryl Savaria at Town Hall at (401) 767-2200 ext. 301.

All money raised will support the Land Trust’s continued conservation work. The charge is $15 per serving and kids 6 and under eat free. Take out will also be available.

Shredding

The town of North Smithfield will host a shredding event on Saturday, Oct. 1 at the town garage at 281 Quaker Highway from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is open to town residents only with proper ID and two boxes are allowed per person.
