Northern, RI – Calling all devilish dogs, ghoulish gerbils, cursed cats and horrific hamsters: NRI NOW wants to see your Halloween best.
Welcome to the Howl-O-Ween, Meowl-O-Ween & Every Pet In-Bat-Ween Pet Costume Contest, where readers submit photos of their pets to compete for a chance to win prizes – all while raising funds for a local animal shelter.
Does your pet have what it takes to win? To enter and make your pet a star, simply email us a photo of your parakeet, dog, iguana, cat, turtle, bunny or sugar glider dressed in costume with the name of the one of our three area shelters – in Burrillville, North Smithfield or Glocester – that you hope will benefit, and we’ll give you instructions on how to pay the $3 entry fee. All funds raised through submissions will be donated to the shelter most mentioned.
Pet photos will be published on NRI NOW in an ongoing series running through Halloween, with readers to vote on their favorites, and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes will be awarded.

To enter, submit a picture of your pet wearing a top hat, mask, glasses, devil ears – or whatever creative costume you can find or make – to sandy@nrinow.news. Pets and their owners must reside in Burrillville, North Smithfield or Glocester, and all entries must be received – along with the $3 shelter donation – by 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21.
Winners will be announced in an article on on Wednesday, Oct. 29, along with the name of the shelter to benefit from the entry fees.
