Editor’s note/update: On Thursday, the Burrillville Farmer’s Market announced that the market will be extended into October.

Final farmer’s market

This weekend is your final chance to visit the Burrillville Farmer’s Market for the season and visit with local food and goods vendors and organizations at the outdoor pavilion by Jesse Smith Library. The final market of 2022 will take place on Saturday, Sept. 24 from  9:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. at the Stillwater Mill pavilion at 100 Tinkham Lane in Harrisville.

Stuff the gazebo

The Burrillville Lions Club will “stuff the gazebo,” in Harrisville on Saturday, Sept. 24, collecting items like peanut butter, pasta, mac & cheese, juice boxes and other non-perishable, non-expired foods and snacks to benefit the Burrillville Weekend Snack Pack Program. The volunteer-run program provides weekend meals for between 35-50 school children and families in need per week. Donations for the program will be collected at the Harrisville Main Street gazebo from 9 a.m. to noon.

Boots & Beer

The Burrillville Land Trust is holding a Boots & Beer hike on Saturday, Sept. 24 starting
at 4 p.m. at the Edward D. Vock Conservation Area in Pascoag. Now in its third year, the hike draws nature and craft beer enthusiasts from all over Rhode Island, and nearby Connecticut and Massachusetts, to the Burrillville woods.

The hike is a leisurely walk along the one-plus mile Bobcat Loop Trail that should take no more than an hour. The trail climbs up a glacial esker or two, crosses a stream or two, and ends up in the first-in Rhode Island American Chestnut germ plasm orchard. Sturdy hiking boots or sneakers are a must.

After the hike, join fellow nature enthusiasts and relax at Bravo Brewing Company at 75 Pascoag Main St. in Pascoag for a beer, a slice or two of pizza and conversation. For each donation of $20 to the Burrillville Land Trust, you get one drink of your choice and a slice or two of pizza.

To sign up for the hike go to MeetUp.com Rhode Island and search for Boots & Beer. The area is located at 41.95442° N, 71.74287° W or use 498 Jackson School House Road, and if you get lost call Paul Roselli at (401) 447-1560.

All proceeds go toward the BLT’s effort to Save Sweet’s Hill.

Mattress Fundraiser

The Burrillville High School Cross Country team is hosting a mattress fundraiser on Sunday, Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the BHS gym. Visitors will have the chance to try out 25 brand name, new mattresses at discounted prices – typically at more than 30 percent less than department store prices. There will also be pillows, bean bag chairs, and bedding for sale.
